So... Duke Nukem is taking the piss out of a significantly better multiplayer game in TF2?

Homefront's multiplayer was pretty solid. I could see people still playing now.

I am not sure what GB's obsession is with the DNF hate, and the "mean-spirited misogyny" that they never fail to mention.  Meanwhile, it's A-O-K for a game like Bulletstorm to feature slo-mo skill shots of you blowing the nuts off 1000 male enemies at a time and a game like Gears of War to feature curb-stomps and chainsaw impalements.  My advice would be to lighten up and get off your humorless, politically-correct, holier-than-thou pedestal once in a while.  It must be pretty awful not to be able to find humor in any jokes that might offend any demographic other than white heterosexual males, especially in a game as cartoonish in its characters and humor as DNF.

DNF is an an average to below-average game.  It was a game with many flaws, but which also actually had some fairly interesting level design here and there and had some fun old-school gameplay elements.  But from the way it is bashed on GB, you would think it was ET the Extraterrestrial for the Atari 2600, or Superman for the N64.

The Homefront MP hate is even more unjustified.  You can criticize the SP of Homefront for being too linear and too short, but the MP is actually fairly decent and brings some clever ideas to the mix for military FPS multiplayer.  No, it's not as polished as Battlefield: Bad Company 2 or CoD multiplayer, but it is fairly good and actually quite excellent for a totally new franchise.

However, I agree that it's a dumb idea for both of these titles to try to charge for multiplayer add-ons when what they really need is the shot-in-the-arm that a some free multiplayer DLC would provide.

Is it possible that they are significantly altering the gameplay for some of these maps, or are they just stupid descriptions?

If Duke Nukem Forever had been more about parodying other games, it probably would have been a lot better.

Also, I'm not too proud to admit it: hats are pretty funny

Didn't realize that it was well-known that Homefront was a bad multiplayer game, I thought it was pretty good. They actually introduced some cool stuff with battle points and battle commander I think. The campaign was just disappointingly shorter than it could have been, and the dialogue and characters weren't great is all.

Homefront wasn't perfect but it had some really interesting multiplayer ideas and I still go back and play it from time to time. Why is it that people just line up to shit on this game?

Homefront multiplayer was actually quite good. Pity that the demo on XBL was enough for me and my mates.

    For me:
    Homefront single player  5/10
    Homefront online 9/10
Just a shame that your online XP was capped at lvl 5 if you didn't have the code/pay for the online pack.

Homefront's multiplayer is decent. I like the battle points system and 32 player servers.
