Alright so my question is simple, other than Official Xbox Magazine will anybody give this game a perfect score? Long awaited followups sometimes have a habit of getting perfect scores on some websites (MGS4 is one example, GTA4 is another). Will Halo Reach be in the Halo 1-2-3 category of high scores or the Halo ODST/ WARS above average scores?
Halo: Reach
Game » consists of 13 releases. Released Sep 14, 2010
A prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, chronicling one of the most cataclysmic events of the Halo Universe through the eyes of a squad of Spartan super-soldiers known as Noble Team. It is also the last game in the series developed by Bungie.
Will anybody give this a 10/10?
It will absolutely rate very well, and I expect several perfect scores. Halo 3 had the weakest campaign of the entire series, but its multiplayer, Forge, and Theater offerings were enough to garner 90+ scores (or the equivalent value) from most every major gaming site. By all accounts, Reach is an improvement over Halo 3 in every conceivable way, so I would expect scores at least on par with Halo 3, if not much higher.
@supermike6: that makes too much sense...
It'll probably deserves a higher score than Halo 3. I'm sure it will have its fair of tens but most of the scores will probably be close to that anyway.
Although we can't say for sure since the game's not out yet, I think that it will get a lot of high scores
From what we've seen and heard so far they're improving a lot of things, adding new gameplay things that worked really well in the beta, and more
The campaign also looks pretty good
So yea, it probably will
While it is possible that some critics will dismiss the game as "more of the same", it seems as though the guys at Bungie have worked really hard to bring us a great experience. Knowing the quality of game Bungie is capable of producing, it seems to me that the biggest danger in terms of poor reviews comes from reviewers who refuse to like Halo on principle--namely because they don't want to be associated with the Halo-playing frat boy demographic. I fully believe that, if the game is scored on its own merits, it will do quite well.
Who knows, maybe the game will totally be 10/10 worthy. Frankly, I think that Bungie's games deserve the generally high scores that they receive. Theres tons of Halo hatin out there, but consistently Bungie makes fully featured , robust games and include things that other devs just cant pull off. Video capture, screenshots, the map editor, how all that stuff is incorporated into their website - that stuff is totally amazing.
I already gave it a 10/10 in my mind.
But to be fair, it's offering quite a lot compared to most shooters out there at launch.
Customizing your Spartan, Forge World, Campaign, more multiplayer modes you can count on 1 hand, 4 player co op campaign.
And the beta felt great, you know that feeling when a game is as it should be!
Not everyone might give it a 10/10, but nobody can deny it's offering a lot.
Of course, it's going to be getting 8/9/10 scores all across the board I imagine. I fail to see any reason why it shouldn't, the beta was fucking awesome and from all the stuff we've seen the game looks sweet.
My heart will give it a 10. *happy tear*
Nah, idk. It seemed good while I played the beta. We'll see.
I'm sure the review tallies will look a lot like the Halo 3's.
A number of gleaming high marks, probably some who knock the antiquity of the Halo franchise, and then one or two rotten apples who despise the game entirely.
" Of course, and I bet giantbomb will give it a 5/5 "It better, seen as ODST got 4, then every time someone mentioned it (in the podcast for example) they said how crap it was.
" I wish scores didn't exist for games. "Same here but that's just how things are. And I'm not saying it doesn't work because a great example is ClassicGameRoom which does reviews without scores and you get a very good idea of what to expect from a game.
The only Halo game that will get a high score from me will be Halo 4 cause I don't consider ODST and Reach as legit sequels.
" @ISuperGamerI said:I'm talking about the SP as well as the storyline." The only Halo game that will get a high score from me will be Halo 4 cause I don't consider ODST and Reach as legit sequels. "What? "
" @Ace829 said:That still doesn't make much sense to me. I understand it is a prequel, but the storyline looks to be fantastic due to the fact the characters have their own personalities. Sure they're a bit cliched, but it's better than the almost mute Master Chief and the annoying Cortana cutscenes in Halo 3. *SPOILER* Yes, you do lose at the end *END*, but what should matter is how well the tale is told. Reach being a prequel shouldn't diminish that. Also the new weapons and gameplay mechanics should make the campaign feel fresh compared to Halo 3's campaign that felt like Halo 2.5." @ISuperGamerI said:I'm talking about the SP as well as the storyline. " @ISuperGamerI said:Honestly, I haven't read too much about Reach's storyline just cause of the fact that there is no Master Chief in it. I might still buy the game, but I don't think it will satisfy my crave for Halo 4 if you know what I mean." @Ace829 said:That still doesn't make much sense to me. " If it's a 10 out of 10 game, why not "this is a pretty dumb thread to make before the game comes out.
" @ISuperGamerI: You shouldn't dismiss it because there's no Master Chief. Especially if you don't know much of Halo: Reach's story. At least give it a chance. Also, knowing Bungie, they'll probably have Master Chief appear in a cameo or easter egg of some sort to please their fans. So don't forget that. "True dat I still need to go to Future Shop and try and buy Halo: ODST for $20 and I might pick-up Halo: Reach when it gets released next month.
" The only Halo game that will get a high score from me will be Halo 4 cause I don't consider ODST and Reach as legit sequels. "you're right, they're a spinoff and a prequel respectively
Am I the only one that thought the beta was very, very much like H3 with some very slight changes? (I'm not trying to troll) I didn't play much of the beta (borrowed a friends ODST disc towards the end of the beta), but from what I could tell, the game seemed nearly exactly like H3 with some changes that didn't effect much at all. Reach seems much more like an evolution of H3 than anything revolutionary and I don't' see why it should get 10's.
