Apparently Activision is giving the axe to the series "to focus on the greatest opportunities that the company currently has".
All I can say is it's about god damned time.

Guitar Hero
Pick up your plastic guitars and rock out to your favorite rock songs from the 50s to the present!
GUITAR HERO IS FINALLY DEAD!!
As much as I might be apathetic about Guitar Hero since Harmonix left, that's a lot of people who are probably losing their jobs today or in the near future. Hardly a cause to celebrate. We can just grimly hope (in vain) that Activision learns its lesson about 'exploiting' franchises.

*looks at the new CoD around the corner*
I don't think they did =\
I'm not sure how I feel about this. Part of me is disappointed. While I think they overdid it, I have had my share of fun with the GH games. At the same time, I'm hoping that this will make things easier for the RB market, especially considering what's going on over there.
It's a shame though when shit like this happens just because people are fickle bandwagon jumpers. And what I mean by that is that the GH series wouldn't have blown up the way it did if people hadn't jumped on that bandwagon. And then something else came along and everyone hopped off that bandwagon and got in the new one.
As someone who didn't care about music games, it was interesting to watch this rise and fall. With GH dead and Harmonix downsizing, I kind of feel justified in my apathy towards the genre, but I wonder if it could have lasted without the intense competition and exploitation.
Oh well, back to fun games.
" It had a good run, and maybe it will pop up again. " E3 2022: And now we present: GH RETURNS" "in 11 years? You're being optimistic. I'm calling it at 5.
Sad about True Crime Hong Kong. I was kind of thinking it would be ok.

Thank god. Those assholes ruined the market. Why couldn't they have just never continued that series?
(When I say they, I mostly mean Activision. The Neversoft guys are generally cool and I feel bad for them)
"Good, they can use that team to make MW3 a better game so people stop bitching about COD. "
Not how that works at all
" So the plastic guitar rhythm genre is finally dead. "Well, the bad game in the genre is.
" Hooray! Tons of people lost their jobs! "Yeah, because I totally care about who lost their job and who didn't.
I stopped playing Guitar Hero at the 2nd one. Moved on to Rock Band and still keep getting songs for it. I didn't like Guitar Hero because each game was it's own track list. Rock Band is great for it's constantly growing list of songs, with a handful of the ones on the discs lost every time they make a new game. I decided years ago I would only buy any music games if they could be integrated into my current Rock Band setlist.
*ugh*
Warriors of Rock was a solid entry that I thoroughly enjoyed. It took shit back to the days of Guitar Hero II and Guitar Hero III in terms of on-disc soundtrack, general irreverence and tone. I guess too many people are allured by "quantity" in Rock Band that they can't just enjoy a game for what is put on the disc at all.
This is seriously stupid.
Warriors of Rock was okay. Honestly, if I plug in a GH game anymore, odds are its GH: Metallica.

CoD is next ?
omfg if CoD disappears im gonna.... O M G JUST IMAGINE A WORLD WHERE CALL OF DUTY IS NO LONGER RELEASED EVERY YEAR ?
AW MA GAWD FUCK !!!
I never bought a guitar hero game, I've never bought a Rock Band game, and I never will. They're fun to play at parties, for about 10 minutes. Never been vaguely interested in actually buying one.
I don't need to spend ~£100 to get a high score to enjoy playing music. I'm sorry if that sounds elitist but it's true.
Guitar Hero dying has no effect on me at all. I really couldn't give a shit. I don't buy Activision products anyway so the idea of them moving resources to work on something else is uninteresting to me also.

Not quite all the way unfortunately, it looks like a possibility for it to be released on the Playstation phone :(
