Guitar Hero: Metallica worked because they seemed more or less committed to the idea of having a "metal" version of Guitar Hero, and the devs actually seemed to be enthusiastic about doing the band justice..

This Van Halen stuff is pretty clearly a cash-in given that they mention the inclusion of bands that have nothing to do with Van Halen right after.  They want to sell this disc to both VH fans and "Guitar Hero fans", even though they have more than enough SKUs to cater to the latter group without ruining the VH game.  Typical watered-down Activision-style approach.

I've more or less decided that GH: Metallica is the last Guitar Hero game I'll own.  I passed on World Tour since it felt like an unpolished cash-in, and I can't see any future GH game feeling any different.

Guitar Hero:The Black Keys or Rockband:The Hives would be something I'd look forward to then freakin' Van Halen crap.

Are people done with Guitar Hero: Metallica already!? I'm sitll having fun with the demo!

@Ziaxool, I'm totally not done with GH: Metallica yet!  That game is awesome.  I've "beat" it on all instruments, but there are so many great songs left to play and master.

I can't get my mid around that band lineup. At least in Aerosmith and Metallica it made a little more sense.

Blink-182 has nothing to do with Van Halen. Van Halen's first album was released in 1978. Blink-182's first was what? 1997? Van Halen had already been recording for 20 years. Where's the connection?
