Overview
Dimahoo, known in Japan as Great Mahou Daisakusen (loosely translated to "Great Magic Warfare") and sometimes by the pronunciation Daimahou, is a high-fantasy vertical-scrolling shoot-'em-up developed by Eighting/Raizing and released by Capcom for arcades (using their CP System II hardware) on January 21, 2000.
The third and final game in the Mahou Daisakusen series, Dimahoo is set 50 years after the war against the Gobligans and puts players in control of one of four bounty hunters as they hunt down leaders of a resurfaced Gobligan empire. It plays more like the original Sorcer Striker, ignoring the racing elements from Kingdom Grandprix.
One new significant gameplay mechanic is its Element Change system, which allows players to periodically switch between two elements (fire and ice, with the ship and UI colored red and blue) by charging their shots, affecting enemy damage, bullet resistance, and scoring. Enemies defeated by charged attacks can also drop special loot that upgrades their current one, granting permanent buffs at their highest levels.
Ships & Pilots
- Solo-Bang the Warrior - "Standard Type" ship.
- Karte the Sorceress - "Homing Type" ship.
- Miyamoto the Dragon - "High-Speed Type" ship.
- Grimlen the Necromancers - "Power Type" ship.
Using a secret cheat code, players can instead opt to play one of four secret characters (two returning from Sorcer Striker, and two guest characters from Armed Police Batrider):
- Gain the Battler
- Chitta the Magic-user
- Birthday the Criminal
- Golden the Prince
