I'm a big fan of this kind of show I just wish they'd focus more on scientifically busting myths and less on overacting and trying to be funny.
How do you feel about the show Mythbusters?
" I'm a big fan of this kind of show I just wish they'd focus more on scientifically busting myths and less on overacting and trying to be funny. "
Hehe, I guess we're the opposite. It could never be too science-y or engineering-y for me. :-D
I like Adam and Jamie, the other guys are just filler material actually. I really like some of the myths they've been doing, but I hate how they make you wait until the last 5 minutes to see what you want to see. I wish they would do them one after the other, rather than play the myths concurrently.
I enjoy it, I'll watch it, and sometimes I'll even search for it, but it does feel a little stupid sometimes. Even so, it's far better than 'Bang Goes the Theory', the idiotic English version. That's 3/4 acting to Mythbuster's 1/2. But I prefer the English version of Mythbusters; I've seen both, but the English narrator is more toned down than his American counterpart.
I like it a lot, but I always wait for the day they'll take on the biggest myth of all. It may never happen.
I read somewhere that they want to do it though. Their tone was sort of "if it ever looks like Discovery is going to cancel us - we have a few controversial things we'd like to bust".
I like the show but hate the scripted parts where they're all in a circle discussing the myth in the shop.
" @artofwar420 said:Hes trying to be clever and refer to religion. Key word- trying. I don't see why they need to waste their time stating the obvious. DUH A DUDE CAME BACK FROM THE DEAD COME ON LOL" I like it a lot, but I always wait for the day they'll take on the biggest myth of all. It may never happen. "you mean weather or not the matrix is real? "
" I'm a big fan of this kind of show I just wish they'd focus more on scientifically busting myths and less on overacting and trying to be funny. "Yeah but this show, unlike most, is genuinely funny every once in a while.
It's pretty awesome thoughtkiller show. The explosions and slow mo is why I watch it, you can just say wow to the neat explosion and not pay a second thought to the show.
These critics here haven't understood that television should be taken as something you watch with no real thought in mind, that way you can watch a shitty show too.
I think it's great, a high-budget show about science. My second favorite show (right after Top Gear).
I think its an awesome show, I like the personality of the people (though very little of the actual "jokes" seem to come across, although every now and then its funny but usually more due to something unexpected happening) and the fact it inevitably leads to an explosion or something "big" but along the way it slealthly teaches you little bits of science. The last is actually the most amazing to me since they are visably doing scientific experiments and talking about science type things but most people ignore that and watch for explosions and stuff so it hides the science parts of the show in front of you.
The other big one is evolution. They could teach a big chunk of their audience a lot about how evolution really works with their 44 minutes of airtime and a few fruit flies.
The show is an excellent example of what the modern era can do for science. There are things put up for evaluation on the show that would never be realistically tested, were it not for television. It's not everyday that you are going to find some rich guy that wants to spend all of his money figuring out if he can cut a car perfectly in half, or get sucked out of an ocean by a helicopter's water-gatherer. I'm glad there is a show like this. If only other failed shows had a little bit of charisma, there would be a lot cooler things showing up on TV. Lol, and I'm 19, I'm not saying television is some new-fangled wonder-device.
Simply put, it's among my favorite TV shows of all time. I'm liking Jessi in the current episodes but I miss Kari already. Ah well, she'll be back when her maternity leave is over.
Stopped watching it after I noticed that Grant puts on an 'evil laugh' at least once every episode. It irritates me to no end.
" @Willy105 said:Junkyard Wars has been canceled for years. How long have you watched?" Mythbusters is the best thing on the Discovery channel. And they have a lot of cool stuff on that channel! "Discovery channel is great. Do they still air Junkyard Wars? Loved that show. "
" @Rallier said:I used to get the discovery channel for free every year for a couple of weeks as part of an introduction offer. " I like the show but hate the scripted parts where they're all in a circle discussing the myth in the shop. "Exactly my opinion. It makes the show seem less real and more just like acting at times. But hey, not much of another way to do it.
The series started out with them busting myths and their humour coming across naturally. Nowadays, the humour seems really forced. The myths are still fun to watch, though.
