    Uses of flips

Flips very rarely have a practical use, and most of the time they are merely for show. Occasionally however, because the entire movement for a flip is different from that of a normal jump, there are situations where a different movement/momentum is required and flips can be useful then.

Some activities in which flips are commonly used

Freerunning (similar, but slightly different from parkour)
    Snowboarding
    Skateboarding
    Inline Skating
    Trials Biking
