I've been playing Fire Emblem games for as long as they've been on American soil, and while the series may have its ups and downs, the general quality of strategic gameplay and prolific storytelling has been consistent throughout. A 20 year old game? Not a problem for Shadow Dragon! 3
I tore open the box with the wildest smile you may ever see from a stereotypical teenager upon arriving home with my recently purchased Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon game. In frenzy I rushed upstairs, skipping steps I dare say, in order to retrieve my DS and enjoy what has become my favorite series of all time! Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is basically a 19 year old game. It was the first Strategy Role Playing Game on consoles. It was also never released outside of Japan. Fire Emblem started 18 years ago in Japan; when we got our first game of the franchise it was already well over a decade old. By the time we got to experience one of the greatest strategy games ever made, Intelligent Systems had had plenty of time to develop their ability to write a superb story, build up memorable characters, and work with the accessible but deep gameplay.
