Official Fez puzzle hint thread!
Can someone please help me get out of the lowest room near the Bell? You know the one.
I managed to climb to a section where (I think) the tiles are repeating.
Edit: NVM jumped around randomly and landed somewhere new. Skillz.
I'll save some of you some time deciphering the security question. (A big room in spaaaaaaaace with 8 letter blocks and a floating message.)
Message 1: Please answer this security question. What's my name?
Message 2: Security question hint: my first half is what it is. My second half is half of what made it.
The answer? Figure it out!
Open your MIIIIIINNNNDUH.
@Chaser324: Going through the possibilities as we speak.
Unfortunately I'm not even sure the form in which it wants an answer, in two parts or one.
Assuming it's one word on one side, there are 85 possibilities (for me...no telling if there are different letters for you). If it's two words on any given side, obviously that makes it a bit more complicated.
Edit: Actually, it can be many more. Just remembered you can pick up the blocks and rotate them into the rest of the letters. Yeah, no fucking clue.
What worries me about the security question puzzle is how I solved another block placement puzzle. It was really glitchy and I tried 4 times with no luck. Three times I rotated the world and it caused blocks to fall out of place. I'd throw them off to respawn them. The third time one respawned far from anything resembling a correct position, but it read that as an answer. If this puzzle is equally problematic I'm going to not bother trying until there's a definitive answer.
Are you talking about the puzzle where
That was glitchy for me too.

Can I get some hints for the owl in the cemetery? I really have no idea what to do with it.
There are actually two ways to tackle it.
The first way...the "real" way...is finding all the owls in the other levels. Once you find four, they will perch around that owl statue and open up a hidden passage for you.
The other way is to stand in the doorway under the owl, rotate it all the way around so that you are behind the statue where the doorway would be. Use the door like normal...BOOM, snuck in literally through the back door (you still gotta find all the owls for the sake of completion though).

Ah, OK thanks. I spent like 20 minutes looking around for a code in that area haha.

you need to make L and T from differing perspectives? That was glitchy for me too.
Nope, that one worked fine. It was a different one. I can imagine they're both like that though since it's the same thing, just a different arrangement.
I just spent a few hours translating what text I could if anyone's interested. The only cubes I have left are3 from the clock tower and one from the advanced tetris puzzle
Please answer this security question. Whats my name / Security question hint. My first half is what it is. My second half what made it.
Top of the tree before sky temple:
Please send help trapped in fez factory
Side of clock tower:
All of time and space and the space outside of space. Does it ever end?'
Industrial zone:
Industrial district, Welcome!'
Neon sign: 'Warp gate'
Blue sign Zu/v
Dark City:
Large sign: Watch out for black holes
Owl sign: Hard work
Other sign: Good food. Eat meat.
Small neon sign: Zu/v, Nu/v?
The cube language people:
Woah! How did you get in here?
He wears the fez!
What is wrong with your head?
Ha ha ha! Check our Mr. rectangle head over there!
I think it is nice to have a visitor for once
Where did you get that hat?
Hello! Can you understand any of this?
Nice to meet you!
Where did you come from?
Welcome to Zu/v - said by one of the little kids, bolded for importance.
I think "zu" or "zv" is the name of the people or the civilization. The symbol for U and V are the same. It has to be 'Zu' right? Because Zv wouldn't make any sense. Maybe that's a clue for the security question?

I'd point out that the post-completion text for the Tome artifact suggests that is so.
Does anybody know what puzzle this is in reference to? (From Jeff's Twitter)

Yes. The fucking white clock. Mine was on the 11:30 position about 6.5 hours ago and is still not quite all the way to 12:00. At this rate I'm thinking that clock moves what would be 30 min on a normal clock every 8 hours.
So I found that pattern from the burned treasure map on the floor of this seemingly empty room (using the NG+ ability). I stood where the arrows pointed and put in that code. A big black monolith thing came up...can't seem to interact with it. I'm wondering if the other half would solve it.
Yeah, I've gotten that far as well, no luck. I have only 9 maps, does anyone else have more?
Also
@Chaser324: That is my favorite music in the game. I got
from the telescope, but its still not complete. hmm.
@deman8899: Yeah, that thing is probably linked with some sort of ultimate "true" ending.
Once you have 64 cubes, you can go in the room beneath the island with the single tree and see it floating above a fountain. It looks like about 1/3 of a heart. I wouldn't be surprised if the other two pieces come from the security question and monolith puzzles.
Someone on gamefaqs solved the secuirty puzzle. You get a red cube from it.
Rotate the screen twice after spelling out the word.
Also the red cube from the telescope puzzle is:
I have no fucking idea how people figured this out. I am not smart enough to work out the games internal logic for these super hard/secret puzzles. I'm just happy that someone did!
Anyone got any hints as to the location of the "fox and dog" room? I don't even know where to begin.
Also do the owls have specific areas they hang out in or are they just random? The last one is proving harder to find.
@deman8899: In the observatory? I somehow pieced together the symbols that you can see through the telescope while facing each direction. I got it on my first try...probably just got lucky.
@Robo: The bell: each side has a number in the ancient/alien language. You just have to hit each side of the bell, one after the other, the number of times indicated. If you haven't figured out how to decipher the numbers, there's a class room in that second populated town that should have enough info for you to piece it together.
Some question about the telescope: (got it myself)
Also, any clue about the thing that u can got from each direction?
So do the artifacts do anything? I've got the number and writing ones but I don't see how they help me in the slightest. Also what's up with the one room that's not gold in the starting area.
edit: also I have 4 maps corresponding to the graveyard place puzzle, but it seems like any combination of me using them doesn't yield results?

Each of those four maps have a symbol which can be deciphered as a number (1-4). You have to do them in order and then you'll be brought to a new room. I had to do it twice for it to work. I can't remember which order you do the doors though, sorry.
Oh dude. I just thought of how to solve that black box under the green warp gate. The burnt treasure map thing.
The first pattern you put in corresponds to the number 0. That's what the arrows are pointing to. The other part of the swirl is around the number 1. So i need to find a pattern in a room somewhere with the number 1 next to it. And I think I know exactly where to look.
Bah...didn't work.

Am I the only one who has trouble entering codes simply because I keep walking off ledges and dying or not having enough room to move in the direction I need to.
I haven't walked off a cliff yet. You just need a little tap. You don't have to hold to the right for a second or anything.

Dudes. I'm about to blow your fucking minds.
This will pretty much negate the platforming side of things, so read at your own discretion.
Press Up, Up, Up, Up, and hold A...
I thought it was a glitch at first, but it's too easy to repeat.
Yeah, been doing that my entire NG+. It makes it really easy to grab everything that I didn't get during my first 32 cube run.
So I got everything but the monolith (and the 33rd anticube glitch, which I'm avoiding). 113th on the leaderboards with 206.2% completion.
Apparently one of the only people to solve the monolith - if not THE only person so far - is one of Fez' sound guys. The vast majority of the other higher completion percentages are from that glitched cube.
On to New Game ++. I'm kind of wondering if your new "ability" in this is the key to that damned monolith. Nothing in this game seems to be there for no reason.
Pfew, just discovered the way to crack the alphabet, this is crazy. I'm French, how am I supposed to know about some obscure pangram ? :/
About the security question, I can't get the blocks to face the right direction with RT/LT. There's always one or two not showing their right side. I notice the block you are currently holding does move with you (meaning its face does not change), but it's super-glitchy and the side sometimes swap for no reason. This is way too random to be the right thing to do, does anyone have a video of this ?

I found that if you keep hitting RT (and I assume LT as well) the image on the block you're holding will rotate forming a new letter. In this way you can continuously cycle through 4 letters on any one block face. It happens too consistently to be some glitch. It is super weird though
