Overview
The soldier known only as "the Point Man" is the main character of Monolith Productions' F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault Recon, and is a silent protagonist. He has superhuman reflexes that make him superior to your everyday soldier.
Background (spoilers)
The eldest son of Alma Wade, and Paxton Fettel's brother. The First Prototype of Armacham's Project Origin, the Point Man was determined to be a failure by Armacham because while he developed superhumanly fast reflexes and hand-eye coordination, he did not inherit his mother's immensely powerful psychic abilities. Additionally, the circumstances that led to the Point Man's separation from Armacham and subsequent assignment to the F.E.A.R. team are not known.
F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault Recon
Initially, the Point Man's role is to scout an abandoned facility, trying to find Paxton Fettel. Failing to capture Paxton at this location, Point Man and the rest of the F.E.A.R. team relocate to a water treatment plant, where the Hannibal-3 spy satellite had again picked up the signal from a transponder implanted in Fettel's body. There he sees Alma and Paxton, witnesses many deaths, but again, Fettel escapes and the Point Man is sent after him to the new location - ATC headquarters. Fighting through waves of Fettel-controlled replica soldiers, Armacham mercenaries, and terrifying visions of Alma, the Point Man attempts to rescue Armacham executive Alice Wade. Finally, the Point Man infiltrates the Project Origin facility and destroys it by melting down it's nuclear reactor. During exfiltration aboard a UH-60 helicopter, Alma appears clinging to its side, leaving the fate of the Point Man and surviving members of the F.E.A.R. team unknown.
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin
The Point Man makes no appearances in the second game, aside from a few very indirect references to his status as the First Prototype.
