Does anyone know for sure yet whether the day/night cycle is locked to progress in story? If it is that's a shame... Thanks.

So far, only the intro was. Once it becomes more freeform time passes no matter what.

Once you get past I think it's called "first assignment" the day becomes dynamic. I'm sure some stuf will be locked and it'll force day or night but yeah, in the open world if you just hang out you will se an entire cycle

In gamespots preview, there's a clock in the inventory menu and I currently don't have that in my game. I assume once you beat the First Assignment mission that appears or is that a perk?
