Character »
A protagonist who lacks some or all of the qualities traditionally seen as heroic.
The inverse of an anti-hero. An anti-villain is a villain that portrays him/herself as someone who is just and altruistic while is secretly working towards an otherwise nefarious and villainous goal. Common archetypes of anti-villains are politicians and religious figures who craft a wholesome and good-natured image to hide their evil intentions; this may even sometimes include doing good deeds, but only as a temporary measure to potentially further their true ambitions.
A common character class / archetype in role-playing games and fantasy. They are often less chivalric than your average Knight-errant, generally being depicted as either archetypal villains (such as a Dark Lord), or troubled and ruthless anti-heroes.
A boss fight is a culminating challenge that pits the player against one or more enemies representing a greater threat and/or difficulty than those previously faced. These scenarios typically feature unique antagonists.
A character whose intentions seem to be to help the player character, but their motives are unclear.
Characters that are initially portrayed as evil, but eventually turn out to be good or not as serious of a threat. This also includes villains who remain evil the entire game, but contain some sense of moral goodness or ambiguity.
This concept is featured in games that have a character wearing a helmet or mask with a skull graphic or picture on it, or else a helmet styled to resemble a skull. This does not pertain to characters who actually have skulls for heads.
