Overview
The Commonwealth Minutemen, known as just the Minutemen, is a small militia in the Boston area of The Commonwealth. The Minutemen took their name and style from the militia group during the American Revolution, dressing in the same era of clothes.
History
Though it is unknown when the Minutemen were first founded, they rose to prominence around the Commonwealth in 2180 when the ground successfully defended Diamond City from a super mutant attack. The last leader of the Minutemen was General Becker. After his death, the militia started suffering from internal power struggles and could never agree on a new leader.
In 2287, when defending the suburb of Quincy from a large force of the Gunners raider gang, the Minutemen were betrayed by one of their commanders, Clint, who defected to the Gunners and gave plans to easily defeat the militia. The Gunners massacred all civilians in the town and most of the Minutemen. The only surviving members were a small group lead by Preston Garvey.
