    Overview

Collapse!, not to be confused with the original 1998 game, is a puzzle game developed and digitally published by GameHouse for the PC and Mac on December 9, 2009.

The fourth installment of the Collapse! series of "SameGame"-inspired puzzle games and the sequel to Super Collapse! 3, Collapse! features a reworked single-player campaign ("Adventure", which now uses customizable avatars) and new "Double" versions of the game's modes (which uses dual playfields).

It also received a mobile port for iOS and Android devices alongside the other releases, with a Windows Phone 7 release later on August 21, 2011. Like the previous game, this version uses a smaller 8×10 playfield and does not include the "Double" modes. This version later received a sequel with Collapse! Blast.

It also received a free-to-play browser version via Facebook in 2009, with limited game modes and a microtransaction system for power-up access.

    Game Modes

The Puzzle, Slider, Continuous, and Countdown modes from the previous installment are not included in Quick Play. All modes, other than the basic Classic mode, are unlockable for Quick Play in the Adventure mode.

New to the series are "Double" variants of the game's Classic, Relapse, Strategy, and Continuous modes. These have two separate playfields next to each-other, rarely interacting with each-other (including "Warp Bombs" that launch groups of blocks into the other playfield).

    • Classic is the standard mode, with rows of blocks rising from the bottom of the board at timed intervals.
    • Relapse has rows of blocks both rising from the bottom and descending from the top, with the game ending if two blocks of different gravity collide.
    • Strategy removes the timed addition to rows of blocks, instead adding a row each time a move is made. In the "Double" variant, clicking one playfield adds a row to the other.
    • Continuous uses a single endless level, with the game instead becoming more difficult over time.
    • Puzzle changes the formula to traditional "SameGame", with players attempting to clear an entire board of blocks without any time constraints or additional blocks. It is only used in the Adventure mode.
