    Chupacabra

    Concept »

The Chupacabra is a purported creature resembling a gargoyle, said to exist in parts of Mexico, Puerto Rico and of course, video games.

    Short summary describing this concept.

The name "Chupacabra" literally means "goat sucker", a reference to their alleged tendency to suck blood from livestock. Despite them being more commonly associated with Mexico these days, they were actually first reported in Puerto Rico.
Chupacabras are generally described as being greenish in color with a row of spines going down their back; flight, invisibility, teleportation, and various other abilities are optional! While being undeniably more common in Spanish speaking parts of the world, reports have come from locations as varied as the Northern U.S., Canada, and even the U.K. In reality they may be some variety of diseased canid.

Chupacabras appear in a number of Castlevania games, often being re-named "cave trolls" in the U.S. releases for some reason.
