Biography
Haslam started skating at the age of 13 while living with his parents in Singapore, and turned pro in 2002. He is goofy footed. While he was a teenager he attended St. Thomas Aquanis Catholic Secondary School in London Ontario. He graduated in 1996. He lived in a town called Komoka with his mom and dad.
Around 2003 he joined Almost Skateboards along with fellow pro skaters Daewon Song, Rodney Mullen and Cooper Wilt.
His current sponsors are Almost Skateboards, Independent Trucks (In dependent Trucks and Clothing), Momentum Wheel Co., IS Designs, Vestal Watches, DaKine, CTI and Globe Shoes.
Haslam has been gaining attention and popularity since the Almost: Round Three video. Chris won the Reader's Choice in the 7th Annual Transworld Skateboarding Awards in 2005. In August 2006 he was voted the winner of the Vs 411VM competition. This was a competition where tricks performed by a number of professional skateboarders were voted on by the public. The winners of each heat went on to the next round.
In 2006 Haslam and Daewon Song featured in Almost Skateboards' video Cheese and Crackers, showcasing the pair skating a miniramp. It also features Haslam skating an offroad skateboard as well as one of his most notable quotes "Looks like Chris Haslam is blasting off again!"
In April 2007, Haslam had a video part in Momentum Wheels debut video, Un Momentum (por favor).He was also the star of Globe Shoes's United By Fate Part 2 mini video in August 2007, and is a playable character in EA's skateboarding video game series skate. for PS3 and X360.
While in Tasmania, Australia on a tour with Almost, he was featured in an article in the Sunday Tasmanian newspaper, with the headline "World's Most Unlikely Hero".
In 2008, Chris joined the metal band Kobra Triangle, playing the bass guitar.
