Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Captain Romulus Slag was first introduced in
Tools of Destruction as the leader of the quirky band of disorganised space pirates. Although originally designed by
Emperor Tachyon, he broke away, and acts as a rival in obtaining the Lombax secret. He, with his crew, enter a series of space battles with
Ratchet and
Clank, before a final confrontation on Slag's own flagship. Ratchet manages to defeat Slag, resulting in him becoming exploding, yet still able to talk. He emotionally tells his first ship mate and loyal friend,
Rusty Pete, of a vision of "wenches as far as the eye can see, each holding a glass of grog and a smile for old Slag". Pete then dramatically ponders the fragility of life, before declaring Ratchet as Slag's successor as captain of the crew.
Ratchet and Clank Future: Quest for Booty
Captain Slag returns to the series in
Quest for Booty, helping narrate the story with Rusty Pete. Pete manages to revive the Captain's head to the extent that he can talk, though he has to be carried round on a stick. Unknown to Ratchet, Pete conspire to bring him fully back to life. He attaches Slag's head to the corpse of Captain Darkwater, and in doing so accidentally restoring both Slag and Darkwater back to life fully. Now both possessing the same body, they begin arguing, but appear to get their act together in time to face up to Ratchet. Eventually Darkwater and Slag are defeated. At the end of the game, Pete is shown rowing the once again disembodied Captain Slag across the sea, while finishing of the story, after which Slag remarks that he never wanted to hear it in the first place.
Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time
Slag and Pete don't really appear in Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time, but they are heard on their Space radio station, Pirate Radio, from planet Ardolis, having somehow made it back there when reaching the island. The two made requests, played songs, and often bickered over things, Slag still a disembodied head. Dispite thier new jobs, the two still held their postion as captain and first mate.
