Beyond Good and Evil 2
Game » consists of 0 releases.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 is a prequel that supposedly casts the player as an up-and-coming space pirate in an era when Humans are first creating animal-Human hybrids to serve as slave labor. The game is also known for constantly being delayed and in development hell.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 Video Looks Questionable, Incredible
The game does look a bit good to be true, but the giveaway (that it might be real) is the camera. It is still a bit stiff in comparison with the action. I hope they do add more speed variety to the camera.
Either way, whatever the hell this is, it's bad ass.
if this game is play station only, i will buy a ps3 just to play it. even more than metal gear solid 4, this game would be a killer app for me.
i ADORED the first one.
I find it hard to belive that this would be real time gameplay. More like a demo like Killzone 2 had.
Looks fake and no this isn't what Mirror's Edge shoulda been because that game works because it's first person only.
Anything with running through environments with more people/objects/vehicles to interact with/avoid is awesome in my book. Assassin's Creed was really good for that, but if this could give even more realistic interactions to suck you into the world more then that's exactly what I'm looking for.
I got the first game recently and I haven't played it properly yet. This trailer looks great, and I hope the game turns out just as good.
I don't know, there's obviously a significant chance that this is an over-excited concept video, but the animation, whilst excellent, looks like it could be genuine, and seems to respond to believable cues and have enough repetition to be feasible (turns are at exact right-angles, and the same sidestepping thing is use for both the cow and the table). The thing I find most suspect is the hendheld-style camera, which is I think responsible for a large portion of the fluid feel of the video. Then again, I don't suppose too many games have even attempted a similar style (that Bourne game did, but from what I remember it was for much more limited scenarios), so perhaps it's not as out there as I thought. The fact that the camera movement does seem to have some faults suggests it may be genuine (for example, it passes through one of the cars as she crosses the street, which, incidentally, she doesn't seem to display any situational awareness of, also suggesting the animation isn't entirely hand-made). Either this is real, or the makers are going to a surprising amount of effort to make it look just off enough to be real. Or they just made a really great video from scratch but somehow missed some quite noticeable things, or it's actual gameplay that's been tweaked to look more realistic. Or something else.
The thing which separates this from the Killzone video, which I always thought looked pretty much impossible, is that the Killzone video didn't seem like it could be achieved without actual intelligence generating it. The way the camera and character's weapon moved with intuitive awareness of its surroundings was probably the main elements -- you can to a certain extent fake that with NPCs, as you have some sort of knowledge of what they're going to do next, but the player is unpredictable, so the subtle nuances that accompany our broader more intentional movements and actions are harder to simulate. In this video, however, the movements, whilst complex and varied, don't seem to require prior knowledge of the player's actions. In fact, other than at clear corners (doorways, etc.), the character seems to run in a completely straight line. Perhaps this is quite a constrained segment of gameplay, and actually plays more like a 2D game, only with the camera aligned with one of the dimensions.
Anyway, it's definitely a very cool video. BG&E was good, so regardless of its authenticity, the prospect of a sequel excites me.
Of course, anything that gets "leaked" that looks this polished is meant to get people psyched. And I'm psyched, because even if the actual game isn't going to be as awesome as this, the concept of being a rogue photographer free-running through an urban landscape has me doing little dances in my chair.
This Video just makes me think of the missed potential in Mirrors Edge... I get the whole first person perspective... but 3rd person would have been spectacular.
IF... and this is a big if... that is in game footage... and i'm willing to bet my house it isn't... then thats going to blow Mirrors Edge out of the water.
I have no doubt it's in-engine gameplay, but it looks like one of those tech-demo's where the camera pans through a couple of areas to give you a feel of how it looks, with Jade inserted in there.
I'm a big fan of the original game, so i'd like to see more of what BG&E's gonna be about.
[Early Impression] Looks a bit like Assassin's creed mixed with Mirror's Edge.
That looks so good it has to be true really doesnt it. Looks like they borrowed some of the Assassins Creed animators. It'll probably be shown again at E3. Awesome
"If any UBI studio could make anything that good in-engine it would have been done with a big franchise its just a proof of concept CG video."I'd say the BG&E fanbase is pretty big, i mean it's no billion-seller but alot of people would love to see a sequel, which this is.
I don't think this is another Killzone 2 trailer incident, but what it could be is a BGE2 cut scene that uses the in game engine. All the animation would be applied as if it was a movie but use the same assets available from the game. Or it could be a proof of concept thing. Whatever it is, it looks great and I hope there will be more next month.
I think it might be spiced up a bit, but could be actual gameplay. There's clipping on that stick or whatever is on her back when going up the stairs, so I'd have to at least say it's in-engine.
Looks like a QTE. And it probably is. Like that trailer for the Wanted game that showed a QTE but edited out the commands.
I don't think it's gameplay, it looks like a target render... I doubt the game would ever work that well...
