AWP

The Arctic Warfare Police sniper rifle, commonly known as the AWP, is a notorious weapon in many games but foremost the Counter-Strike franchise. It is a model in Accuracy International's Arctic Warfare line of sniper rifles intended for law enforcement use, and are generally chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO but may also be chambered in .308 Winchester or .338 Lapua Magnum. It is often included in games as a 1-hit-kill weapon for not only headshots but also torso hits.

 It is most notable for its inclusion in the Counter-Strike franchise, chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum for the CTs and in 7mm Magnum for the Ts, and is the only weapon able to kill with 1 shot without requiring to hit the head. It costs $4750 and is available to both counter-terrorist and terrorist forces. People who use the AWP are often called AWP-whores for its effectiveness. Players often forgo other weapons for a few rounds to afford an AWP at a later time. The rifle holds 10 rounds in one magazine and can have up to 30 additional rounds. The rifle has a slow rate of fire compared to most other sniper rifles but this is made up for with the immense power of each shot.
