Overview:
Arctopia is an iPhone/iPad puzzle game first released in 2009.
It is a turn-based "side-scroller" puzzle game.
Arctopia is most directly similar to Fire 'n Ice (A.K.A. Solomon's Key 2) for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The levels are entirely different, but the overall puzzle mechanics are nearly the same.
Gameplay:
Gameplay is turn-based and viewed from the side (visually somewhat similar to Lode Runner).
The player character, a penguin, can create unlimited ice blocks in diagonally-adjacent positions.
The goal is to extinguish a set of flames in each level by dropping ice blocks onto them.
Since ice sticks to itself horizontally, the main puzzle is figuring out how to create ice in such a way that it will fall onto the flames but not get stuck on other blocks in the level.
There are 147 levels (including 10 tutorial levels). Levels can be played in any order, and are all unlocked from the beginning.
Story:
Essentially none—Arctopia is a bare-bones puzzle game with no story to speak of.
