A movie reference in a game, is where a game references a film. This can be done in many different ways.
A single game may use multiple art styles. For example, Comic Jumper switches its levels between art styles inspired by comics, and Rock of Ages has its stages take on the style of various art periods.
Characters that are initially portrayed as evil, but eventually turn out to be good or not as serious of a threat. This also includes villains who remain evil the entire game, but contain some sense of moral goodness or ambiguity.

Poking fun at a specific existing work, whether a game, a movie, or something else, by imitating and exaggerating its characteristics. Some games use parody here and there, while others are entirely parodic.
