    Alex was added to Minecraft on August 22nd, 2014 as an alternative character model for use by players. Compared to the original character model, Steve, Alex has noticeably skinnier arms (3 pixels wide in her texture file, compared to Steve's 4), as well as a unique default skin.

    Alex is also frequently used alongside Steve as a mascot in Minecraft promotional materials.
