Calling Military Madness the progenitor of Advance Wars is kind of inaccurate. The Advance Wars series actually started with Famicom Wars way back on the NES, but that was Japan-only, as you can tell from the title.

I think Dave should play these RTS quick looks, he seems to know more of what he's doing which gives a better quick look in my opinion.

I could not imagine myself being successful at this game.  I'm not the strategic type.

That looked brutally hard... ON THE MOON! Yeah, I couldn't resist. I listened to the podcast. Good up to 100 laughs, I hear. The support system looked pretty interesting, that way you'd be rewarded for piling on enemies and keeping a tight formation.

This looks pretty faithful to the TG16 Nectaris, which is both neat and kinda a bummer, since Advance Wars has kinda set the standard for this style of (awesome) game nowadays.

What this really makes me interested in is an updated Herzog Zwei for XBLA, PSN &c. That would be awesome, espically if the game made a goddamn bit of sense unlike the original.

The original Military Madness on TG-16 was actually a decent game back in the day, and yes for you younger folks it's where games like Advanced Wars got their ideas from.

I mean where the hell is The Toast King? Insanity Prawn Boy? Moon Keith Moon? Moon Hitler?  Cleary non of them is in this game.. so that is cleary NOT the moon..

We like the moon.  I, however, did not see much enjoyment from this game.

I dunno, it does seem kinda slow and boring. I haven't played Advanced Wars, its all about HOMM (Heroes of might and magic) for me, but the gameplay is similar; it may just be that the games field is too large.
