What about Zelda II and to an extent in terms of story/setting, Link's Awakening?  Zelda II changed the entire perspective, controls and overall gameplay, all MM did was put a timer there, make a new story and give Link some masks!

I was checking if anyone had some viable reasoning for this, also once again: what's up with the font?  Was it copied from somewhere?  Because i didn't even know you COULD change the font on GB edits.

Well, if you put it into context, it is sort of true. For Zelda II, there wasn't really a "classic formula" for zelda. There was only one other game. And for the argument that Zelda II "changed the entire perspective, controls, and overall gameplay," OoT did that exact thing too. It really didn't change the formula, though.

And MM did a lot more than introduce time limit. As aska said on a separate topic, it "was darker, it told a better story (we've seen captured princess a million times over), and it was more emotional." The masks idea, imo, was a great addition to the game, and unlike all of the other games, the side-quests in this game were amazing--and took longer than the main-quest.
