    Team Magma is one of two teams that players can interact with during Pokemon Sapphire, Ruby, and Emerald.

    Team Magma's goal in to use the legendary pokemon Groudon to expand the land over the oceans. In Pokemon Ruby you fight against the whole team and leader to stop them from capturing Groudon. In Pokemon Sapphire you see them fighting with Team Aqua and have very little interaction with them. In Pokemon Emerald Team Magma has a base inside Mt. Chimney where you see that they have a Groudon already, but is escapes when you come into the room.
