    Superman

Character » appears in 60 games

Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, Superman is the last son of the planet Krypton and sworn guardian of Metropolis.

Is Superman one of the first videogame characters?

I wanted to find out who was the first videogame character/s; so I looked into here and it looks like Superman, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor are the first game characters because of the 1978 Superman Atari game. I even want to later on make a list of game characters like on this site but over the years like 80's, 90's, 2000's, and 10's.

I'm inclined to say that there were game characters in Arcade games before the Atari 2600 came out, though specifically which we would select depends on out definition of "character"

If not the first, then one of the first.

Also, its sad he's one of the first yet STILL hasn't had a good game

Only if you'd consider "video game character" to mean any character in a video game. I think that term usually disregards pre-existing characters.

I think he meant videogame character with a name. Otherwise the first character would be the player.

Wow, a fictional character from an old American sitcom is the first videogame character and from Sega about 10 years before their mascot was made (Sonic). What I mean about a videogame character is an actual character with a name and stuff and not a concept.
