Used to be good, now the memories have been soiled.

Bizarre isnt it? That a game which had such high production values, hype and potential, managed to crash so hard.

When the game was released, I was there and in fairness I had a great time. I still have so many great memories of the game, the instances, the story, the companions. It's Star Wars for fuck sake, whats not awesome?? Well, some people didn't think so and when subscriber numbers dropped fast, they panicked. Instead of leaving it and letting the core players, the loyal ones who had paid a lot of money overall for it, play on fewer but busier servers, they opted for something more sinister and made it free to play. The pay for win model has always left me with a foul taste. Sure the game is initially free but no doubt there will be shit I HAVE to buy. Rift had a good store, mainly cosmetic. Tera follows this model too, but SWTOR just takes a shit over it's heritage and loyal fans.

I took a break from the game the day before the first big patch which allowed you to customise the UI. I recently came back to relive some great memories and instead I found a in game store which is disgraceful. Let me just highlight the main issues:

If you don't become a subscriber and pay, you will get a severe XP drop when you do quests and instances. Not only that but some rewards are limited also, you can't get them/use them unless you pay. Worse still is you can only compete is so many dungeon runs a week, if you want more, guess what? You gotta get your wallet out.

But perhaps the most criminal act committed by these parasites is having the temerity to charge you money if you want an extra quickbar for your abilities.
You might want to read that back, just to let it sink in.
A feature which Rift, Tera, Aion etc all give you right from the start is now monetised in SWTOR.

What a fall from grace, the only thing I have are my memories and screenshots of much happier times.
