Like I said in a previous post, I was surprised by the quality of this game, and by how much it would draw me in. I love the collectible and leveling up mechanics, it looks great, and I can play it with my 5 and 7 year old and have a great time. I guess I expected it to be talked about at least a little more than it is. Just too kiddie?

Now I want to find all the past Bombcasts where Jeff talked about his obsession with it! Anyone know any of those episodes off hand?

I just don't like the way it looks I think the character deigns are kind of garbage, and it doesn't help that it costs so much to play it.

That being said I think it's a neat idea, I would like to see the same idea executed with better art design and deeper gameplay.

After hearing Jeff's love for the original Skylanders back in 2011 I decided I'd go down that rabbit-hole this year. I've doubled down on Infinity though, for better or worse.

Fuck man, I'm going to start collecting these things. I just wish they would ship Skylanders in a brown, unmarked box. Like dildos.

My reaction was that the quality of the games is secondary to the content that's locked away which forces you to spend extra money to play it. Skylanders exists purely as a platform for excessive micro transactions brilliantly camouflaged as cute little figurines.

If you're having fun with the game itself and the toys, then that's cool. Totally understandable. But I hope you can see from my explanation why the franchise in general put a lot of people off.

I remember all of Jeff's stories and him going around and looking for this stuff. I think it was around the release time of the original which was October of 2011.

If you ever enjoyed collecting action figures, I think it's a great way to do it. Playing with my toys in a video game is WAY better than moving the arms around my GI Joes and pretending. :)

I do think my opinion is flavored a lot by the fact that I have young kids.

I'm all tapped out on collecting figures and toys. I spent way too much of my parents' money on Pokemon, Power Rangers, Beyblades, Zoids, and Gundams in the past. Besides, I wouldn't even know where to put the figures! Then again, who knows what'll happen when a kid falls from the sky and he/she goes down the same toy-collecting path.

I stopped liking the designs after the first generation, and the Wii version of the game isn't very good.

I might get back in eventually, but probably not. If I were going to, I'd be more likely to play Disney Infinity.

You only need to buy a few figures to see everything in the game. Also there is already a lot of content to play with the figures that come with the game. The locked content is not really that big of a deal. The games are quite fun.

Skylanders was cool in 2011, now it is nothing to people over...15 would you say?

I actually just bough this for my Sister as a birthday present (she's turning 23, bet you thought she was like 10 or something), she loved the first game but already did everything in it she could, and she already finished all her XB1 games so since there is jack shit out for the new consoles I figured this new one would be great for her.

I hope it's fun, I haven't seen anything more than the quicklook.

hmmmm, my niece is like less then 8 months old, my cousin's kids are on the other side of country and I'd feel too old to be playing with those. Even the Lego games, I find difficult to play by myself. The designs on them are like Battle Beasts from the 80s, so I don't think I'd take away a TMNT action figure to display on a desk one compared to Disney Infinity's sleek designs

I don't mind show casing toys as long as it's a cool design that inspires me.

I can't speak for anyone esle but I'm not to cool for them, I'm just to broke for them. Having to buy the game with portal, then all those different mini figurines to get the full game just is to far out of my price point.

Same here. Disney Infinity looks super cool but I'd rather spend the 150 bucks it would cost me to get all the figures I want and instead buy like 20 other games.

Same here again. I'd love to play Disney Infinity but I can't justify the cost of it.
