Sometimes I am surprised how little games these guys play. Neverwinter nights multiplayer client is a "your own server" based mmo where you dictate how many people play, Diablo was like this but on battle.net.

Well, I'd say Diablo was a bit too limited, with it's maximum player count of 4. But, yeah, there have been games that have done pretty much what they described. Particularly some older MMO's that have gone open source and now let anybody run their own shards freely (of course, it was pretty much always possible, since server emulators exist for almost all MMO's, but for the most part, if you were caught you'd be banned in non-OSS MMO's). Meridian 59 and Neocron 2 are two games I can think of that allows this.

Why don't you get Matt Rorie to fill in when someone is away? Hey, actually, why isn't Matt Rorie on the podcast, period?

@tennmuerti: If Skyrim is "dumbed down" from Oblivion, then I'm perfectly fine with it. Everything from Oblivion, from the leveling to the skills to the "conversations" to the combat to the UI was all cumbersome and soured everything about it. And the story, like most Elder Scrolls games, was paper thin.

@likeassur: Hey I am right there with you, loved Skyrim and imo Oblivion is the weakest of the bunch, it simplified too many things without properly streamlining them, it was the half step. Whereas while Skyrim did simplify things further it was also much better at distilling and refining it's systems.
