I said "fuck yea" under my breath when I saw this! Love Samantha's insights. As a hobbyist (for now) game dev it's super cool to hear her thoughts.

If Jeff ever leaves Giant Bomb I hope he starts an interview podcast. These interviews and the evening E3 couch sessions are my favorite content of the year. So good.

Do you mind saying why? I really liked my time with it but I haven't played it in some time. I meant to get back to it after it got updated some.

This conversation between Jeff and Samantha was... beautiful. They way they moved into different topics, their openness and honesty... this is why I subscribe to Giant Bomb.

@gibber: They changed the way you do the research and now you have to funnel things to get bits and then once you have enough bits you buy the item you want. The problem is you have to wait for the bits to get completed. There is a huge startup wait because you have to build up bits to get the tethers then you have to find mats to build the tethers and try and explore to get different items to feed the bit machine and wait more to get the bits to get more items to build out your base. It took the exploring aspect more into finding stuff out of necessity rather than to explore to explore.

Yep. I listened to to this and was reminded why I'm a GB fan. This crew never stops pleasantly surprising me.

I was mostly hoping they wouldn't talk about the Sonic the Hedgehog underwater stages, because fuck.

This was very lovely; both because of the content, but also the personal - and quite soft - interplay between the people present.

I've been enjoying these little interviews that don't slot into an established programming/format. One of the strenghts of Giant Bomb are the "scheduled programming" of content, but it's nice to see that there's room for more spontaneous content.

Personally, I'd like to hear more from indie-developers through interviews like this one. They can offer a solid insight into the realities of making a game, and if they're independent, they'd be free to talk pretty frankly about their experiences.

Cheers; love.

Ah, I always love Samantha guesting on podcasts/video content for GB, she always has really good insights and a different perspective. And this format is a real strong suit for Jeff - he's an excellent host and interviewer. Looking forward to listening to this one.

This was a great chat! So great to have Samantha on again and hear more of her story.

I agree it'd be amazing to hear more conversations like this with industry people (not just devs).
