YES I'm so excited for this!

Since the last episode I completely devoured up to part 3 (season 2 on Netflix) and it's oh so good. I can't wait for the gang to get there.

Love this podcast, thank you so much to you all for making me get into Jojo too, it's everything a good shonen anime should be.

I totally cheated because 3 episodes every 2 weeks was way too slow. Now I’ve finished all of season 1 and loved it, in spite of so much of it being what I previously thought wouldn’t be my jam. So glad to have seen it now.

I definitely hope this does well enough for them to at least cover Part 3/Season 2, mainly because it's where Araki finally gets what he wants to do with the series. Kinda hard to say you know what JoJo when you haven't even reached Stands.

It's funny how some people mentioned Looney Tunes because I feel like it's one of the main inspirations for Part 2.

Still taking two weeks to cover a measly 69 minutes of the show - and not even being as crazy in-depth as that dumb timeframe would justify...DIO forbid they actually go farther than Part 2, will take an eternity to get through Part 3 onward. Lazy lazy lazy, just like everything else on GB these days.

@tartyron: I too have binged the show, up to part 5 since the start if the podcast.

I really hope they go to at least 4 episodes per podcast going forward or they are going to take quite a while getting through Part 2 (it’ll be even long if they tackle Part 3)

@oscar__explosion: right? I haven't started season 2 yet but I saw it's like 40 something episodes. 3 a pop would take for-absolute-ever. Though personally, the change I'd like to see is going weekly instead of bi-weekly. 3 a week is much more reasonable a pace without slowing down too much, but, you know, schedules of 4 people all with other jobs and all that.

@doctornieves:

I agree two weeks for 3 episodes is rough considering ASG was eventually 5 a week

but bro no need to be a dick about it

Since they mentioned other podcasts I'd like to recommend a similar one called Jojo's World. Two person cast, one has never watched Jojo the other has. It's real good, they also talk about Araki a lot and read his author notes on characters and stuff. It's real good!

The Speedwagon slander in this episode hurts, Speedwagon's the best.

Thunder Cross Split Attack is the best too! You can't defend against it! Can't block it, as you're already holding the legs, can't kick as he's much to high for you to reach, what can you do?! Dire's the best.

Surprised the name of Dio's laser vision wasn't mentioned, it's Space Ripper Stingy Eyes. It's the best.

A lot of things in Jojo are the best, lol. Glad Backalar and Lucy are enjoying it!

The subs I'm watching explained the bit with Wang Chung and the machinery; Dio says to himself that any zombie is strong enough to stop the system from moving. Also Erina's ending voiceover mentions "the life growing inside me", which nobody mentioned in the podcast. I'm surprised there's such a drastic difference in translations.

I cannot wait for Jeff and Lucy's reaction to "the character who shows up in episode 11 and is clearly an inspiration for a video game character".

@doctornieves: This is the second time you've left this exact comment. I even agree with your critique but I don't understand why you thought that maaaybe it'll work a second time? I've never been called lazy and thought "Huh you know, this guy's right!" XD

Just have to jump in and say as a huge JoJo's fan this podcast is amazing, ya'll doing some good work, and it's so fun to hear some first time opinions especially when Jeff said "Turn based anime" it was so on point 10/10

Love that Eyepatch is teasing things just through his reactions, it's the perfect amount of "oh man you have no idea what's coming"

This is absolutely my new favorite 'cast and feature from GB.

To address this, we're four exceedingly busy people spread across three time zones. As much as we love doing the show, our schedules right now sadly don't permit us to get together more frequently. Maybe when things aren't so busy, we can reexamine the schedule. Hope that clears things up for you!

Apart from Studio Ghibli and a bunch of 'Fist of the North Star' UK Channel 4 shown around '97, I've always been put off of anime, and games with that style of acting/story with the exception of Disgaea and Persona.

I never want to disregard a whole medium or genre though, and have been wanting to follow up Castlevania with something more oldschool and am really glad you chose JoJo, the melodrama and fightsposition are the right kind of dumb and aside from Speedwagon going from someone you literally don't want to meet in a dark alley to a negging second rate Jimmy Hart (a fearleader?) I'm really liking this anime BS arsed anime.

Every episode makes my day, please keep this going as long as possible!

As for questions for next episode, what do you guys think about the opening of part 1 vs part 2? How do you feel about the evolution of the aesthetic from 1 to 2?

Speedwagon is Anime Jimmy Hart (you've shown me the light).

Does that make Koichi Elizabeth?

Framing Phantom Blood as the tutorial of JoJo is fantastic. It starts the series at the simplest level and lays the foundation for everything that follows.

The two week wait is excruciating. Heck, you could cut the episodes in half and release them weekly and I'd be happy

Just as an FYI, the Netflix presentation of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is Very Good but I'm pretty sure Netflix was straight up missing a whole part when I rewatched it (Golden Wind). I don't know if that might be a regional issue though. My guess is that something in Crunchyroll's contract gave them distribution rights to that specific chapter for some period of time

Golden Wind so far seems the most tangential to the dynastic storytelling of the franchise so it could be arguably considered optional viewing but it also sets some minor ground rules about powers and stuff, so maybe worth checking.

I find it really funny they don't know there's other JoJo podcasts out there since Jess VoidBuger's partner does one called Bizarre Podcast: Dogs Must Die which similarly has a JoJo neophyte in it.

I like both for different reasons!
