And by changed, I mean that it was originally intended to be a dream, but then changed because they realized they needed a way for you to play after it's over.
The last mission made me think that it was originally intended to be a dream for multiple reasons. That girl that John kept seeing everywhere, she apparently was some goddess, from the exact book that Jack was reading and told John all about right before John went to sleep, she told you how what you're fighting are Johns personal demons. She says that thing about the moon that Jack was talking about at the start of the game, and John expresses his confusion about it, John also at one point said, he can't help but think that he is the one that killed all of these people(Or something like that) as I was playing through that last part, all I could think by everything that was being said was that it was a dream influenced by the story Jack told John, and Johns guilt of doing what he used to do.
But nope, all they give us is what seems like an ending that was just put in last minute as a way to keep playing with zombies after the game is over.
