2019 Game of the YEAR WIP

Honestly this will probably be my GOTY, my experience is the writing is less cynical but can be brutal, somber and somewhat melancholic. But this is a grim situation in a harsh world, especially for the people in the rough part of town that even the cops don't want to go to anymore. A lot of the setting is far from subtle but the characters are all nuanced in a way that grounds it, so while I get why people wouldn't like it, I really appreciate it. I am always going to appreciate a game that really tries to engage with issues like class and the rising nationalism. That's not to say I don't think there are missteps as well...
story smartly written, kept me very engaged so far (need to finish)
moments of laugh out loud and genuinely touching scenes as well
While I understand the criticism that it tries to avoid committing outright to a political opinion and instead pokes at aspects of all of them, I do think it quite clearly is putting forward opinions about them. Could argue it is putting forth that all politics are bad, which is shitty (and itself politics) or that it only shows super extreme forms of ideologies (the centrist option is called ultracentrist) so that it is free to mock without making a stand, which also is not great ( will have to see if they go any further or commit by end)
