NamCompendium: PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 RANKED

Namco, in a fit of rage over licensing costs to publish on Nintendo platforms, began publishing on the competition in 1988 as NEC's first third party publisher. How do the 24 Namco titles on this big in Japan platform stack up? Like this!

  • I don't really care for Pac-Land and even I have to admit this is a fantastic conversion. Looks and sounds just right, has an option to play with "normal" controls, has an entire pro difficulty setting if you've mastered the game already. Lots of love went into this port.

  • The final Namco game on the platform, and a fairly radical retooling of the source material. New artwork, hints between levels as to the secrets, and some genuine RPG mechanics added for good measure. A bungled field of view mires things, making about a quarter of a given maze visible at any given time. Not game breaking but regrettable.
