All reviewsEnslaved: Odyssey to the West2010
4 out of 5 starsWith so many details to love about Enslaved: Odyssey to the West , the moment that really struck me is one of the most intangible yet core elements that games seem to be missing these days. Right in the middle of my adventure when I successfully fended off another horde of mechs in destructive slow motion glory, I realized that I was having a blast playing this game. It isn't immediately apparent, as it takes a…
Halo: Reach2010
5 out of 5 starsAfter a decade, we have arrived at the end for Bungie developed Halo games. The series and its creators are both at a crossroads. Before we move on completely, we journey to Reach to see how the events of the rest of the series almost never happened. Will Halo: Reach rewrite the standards for prequels or is it just a story that was better left unplayed? Team Noble coming at you Let's Go, 6 The story of Halo and I…
Alan Wake2010
4 out of 5 starsI either missed the initial wave of excitement about Alan Wake when it was announced at E3 in 2005 or I had completely forgotten about it since it was so long ago. My discovery of the game came in 2009's E3 presentation, where the video footage absolutely blew me away. I could immediately tell that this was a story that I wanted to get lost in. I love it when a game tries to mess with my head. I was sold on the…
God of War III2010
4 out of 5 starsLet's get this out of the way. God of War 2 was the crowning achievement of my PS2 gaming days. I am a huge Kratos fan. I'm big enough fan of the niche of the action genre that GoW created, that I shelled out cash for the recent soulless knock-off, Dante's Inferno. I held off on purchasing a PS3 for a long time, but God of War 3 was where my motivation started every time I was weighing the decision. It was a game I…

My biggest fear about the iPad and Apple at this point, is that they are setting standards for new devices that aren't exactly well thought out. There are so many little question marks about the iPad that are easy to get over for first adopters, but will be annoying if they become the de-facto standard for the tablet device. The HP Slate seems so much more thought out with it's standard resolut...
Welcome to Borderlands
Oct 26, 2009
Reading through an interview with Borderlands’ Creative Director on Shacknews brought out a handful of quotes of why I love this game and endless combination of weapons that are generated on the fly so that no playthrough is the same. a shotgun with bouncing pellets rocket launcher that fired three rockets at once in a spiral the rocket fires and then it splits into two and if it doesn’t hit an...
Gaming Bits .005: Look Behind You! It's a Three-Headed Worm!

Worms 2: Armageddon Easily the game of the week was Worms 2: Armageddon. The version they should have released the first time. Unfortunately, the tight restrictions of file size around the first release date pretty much crippled that game. This version, however, is Worms in all its fully arsenaled glory. Everything has been polished, the smoke effects are well done, the customization options fo...
Gaming Bits .004: Rock my idTech

Rock Band 2 Had our first Rock Band night in about two months. We had to keep it small to keep from flexing the walls at the duplex, but it's always good to break out the Ion Drum Rocker and mic stand and to get serious with the fake band. Smooth Criminal was played multiple times, unfortunately for the drummer. Minds were blown (he's sorry) by @craigtsns during Master Exploder. For the first t...
Gaming Bits .003: Arbitrary 20k
Jun 24, 2009
20,000 Gamerscore Hit an arbitrary milestone this weekend when I cracked the 20k mark with my Xbox LIVE Gamerscore. Gamerscore is one of the biggest strokes of genius Microsoft had with the Xbox 360. Sony is still trying to catch up with their flawed Trophy system, and Nintendo just doesn't care too much, which is pretty much how I feel about their games since gamerscore started being measured....
Gaming Bits .002: Burnout's Back

Burnout Paradise: Big Surf Island Oh, Burnout. Will you ever stop being fun? I ended up buying the new Big Surf Island DLC. I Did a few of the ridiculous jumps and decided I needed to go back to the mainland to unlock the rest of the cars and finish up my license. Nothing against Big Surf Island, but I don't feel like I deserve the vacation before I fully complete the main game. Gotta figure ou...
