Game of the Year 2016

Here's my picks for GOTY 2016...

Some honorable mentions:

Best 2015 games played this year, that didn't make my list b/c I didn't play them in time:

  • Life is Strange
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider

A few games that I really liked in 2016 but didn't make the cut:

  • Ratchet and Clank - Great game, really enjoyed the time I spent w/ it, on the last level as of today, and may actually finish it this afternoon...
  • Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare - Best COD campaign in a really long time. Never touched the multiplayer.
  • Final Fantasy XV - I think this would have made my list, except the nonsense for chapter 13 has my playing it on hold until they release their new content and patch.

List items

  • I'm shocked this is in this spot. But between an inventive campaign and some of the most addicting multiplayer ever, it's there. First game I've ever re-gen'd in. I suck at multiplayer shooters, and am playing this on PC w/ a controller, and still seem to do well enough that I'm not embarrassed as I am w/ many (looking at your Battlefront)

  • Doom...This game just started off kicking ass, and kept on kicking to the very end. The speed and feel of movement is second to none.

  • This game was the whole package...done again, but a whole lot better. It's a game people should play.

  • Making Gears of War Great Again. Not much more to say about, except fucking Giant Mechs!

  • The Show got the 5 spot just b/c of the sheer # of games I played of it compared to previous years. Only ever touched the Diamond Dynasty, which they tried to destroy by eliminating player stats from the back of cards, continued to allow bunt cheese, and they actually added serious grinding to the game. In any case, I played a lot of it and will play more next year.

  • Best entry in the Forza Series to date. Blizzard Expansion is bad ass too...I'll be playing this game for a while I think.

  • Super Hot! Super Hot! Super Hot! - Played through this one in just over a day at the end of the year. Super Hot!

  • This would probably be higher on the list but I haven't finished it as of yet. About half way through, am killing everything, and really want to try the new game plus mode so I can make an attempt at a stealth play through.

  • This is a video game ass video game. I'm really bad at it, but I will also continue to waste evenings playing this game.

  • I had a lot of fun with Overwatch when it first came out and hope to do so again...Though I did fall off pretty hard once September rolled into town and more games started hitting.
