Mascots in JRPGs
This is a compilation of the many high-pitched, often annoying, mascot characters you find in your typical Japanese RPG. They are often shorter than the main protagonists, speak in a different dialect, and are usually the comic relief of the group. Many are prone to making bad puns, and having a catchphrase that is reflective of their name, or species. Sometimes, these mascots are playable party members, but you're probably not going to use them in your main party.
