Fable III Heading to PC, Limited Edition Revealed

Microsoft and Lionhead has announced today that Fable III is coming to the PC as well as the Xbox 360. The possibility of a PC release for Fable III was by no means a sure thing; the original Fable came to the PC more than a year after its original Xbox release, but Fable II skipped the PC entirely, for reasons that could be best summed up as, "OH GOD YOU PC KIDS KEEP STEALING GAMES AHHHHHGH!" On top of that, the recently released Alan Wake, another Microsoft-published game, was originally set to come out on both the PC and the 360 as well, but the PC version was scrapped in favor of the slightly less pirate-able console game. Hopefully, this PC and 360 release announcement assuages fear of a secret Microsoft-backed hit squad dedicated to destroying Windows as a gaming platform. But it won't.
 
Oh, and the digital version of Fable III will be available exclusively through Games For Windows Live. So...hey. PC achievement points. Great.
 
Still, I'll be glad to see it come out: the PC port of Fable: The Lost Chapters was the definitive version of the game, benefiting from more powerful PC hardware that helped it run smoother and faster that it could on the Xbox. Still, it is a PC port of a console game, so I hope you PC players enjoy plugging your wired 360 controller into your desktop or laptop. 
 
Microsoft also revealed the Limited Collector's Edition of Fable III. For $79.99, your base game of Fable 3 will be enhanced with:

• A new quest and exclusive sword
• A new locale to raise your family
• A new dog breed
• A unique outfit
• A pack of Fable III Trading Cards
  
• A "Guild Seal Coin," blue on one side and red on the other, allowing you to boil down the game's complex morality system to its binary base

 
Perhaps this is a sign that I am a fool of a consumer, but I think the coolest part of this package is the book-shaped box. Look at that thing! It makes me want to cast fireballs at chickens! But, you know, a stiff breeze makes me want to throw fireballs at chickens.
