Boom Blox Spawns Sequel

Your gaming bros and broettes over at Electronic Arts have announced the development and near-release of a sequel to Boom Blox. The game, titled Boom Blox Bash Party, will also be a Wii game, and this one is focused on the social side of throwing things at other things to knock things down.

The big new thing in Bash Party is the addition of an online community and level browser. It sounds sort of like the Spot Browser in Skate 2--players will be able to browse through pages of user-created levels, download ones that seem interesting, and rate them. But there will be other new additions to the game, too, including an expanded level creation tool that EA states is "the same tool set the EA development team used to create each and every level in the game!"

There will also be new gameplay elements to use in levels, such as new cannons, paint balls, and a slingshot. The game will ship with over 400 levels and will have new settings, such as underwater and zero gravity environments.

The addition of an online browser to make level sharing a more public thang is a smart idea--this is something that the game should have had all along. Boom Blox Bash Party is set to ship this Spring in both North America and Europe.
