If you had some creative control over the next Persona game, what would you do with it?
My thoughts:
- I think it'd be cool for the game to start in the senior year of high school, but to go into the freshman year of college. Before you get to college, you get the opportunity to ask one of your friends if they'll be your roommate. Of course, this might require the game to go past the 1 year time-frame, but I'd be okay with making it a longer game. Obviously, the university would have to be in the same town as the high school you go to so that you could continue doing social links and meeting with any potential party members that are still in high school.
- Selectable gender for your character, social links change to reflect this (girls dateable to guy characters, guys dateable to girl characters, etc.)
- Since P3's main color was blue and P4's was yellow, I'd have P5 be red.
- Expand social links to have more instances in which more than one character in the game is capable of being a particular social link, like they did in P4 with drama club vs. music club and soccer team vs. basketball team.
- Expand social links to also include different outcomes of each character's social link storyline depending on different things you say and do.
- Velvet Room resembles a cruise ship ballroom, with a new resident to replace Margaret.
- Player enters the Shadow world through books, magazines, comic books, other various forms of literature. Dungeons are based around the kind of literature you entered. Examples: A thriller/mystery detective novel, a superhero comic book, a Playboy-esque/porn magazine for the obligatory sex-themed dungeon, a greek epic, a religious text like the Bible, a newspaper, a children's book, a melodramatic girl's blog, etc.
That's all I got for now. Feel free to build on my ideas or come up with your own.
Persona
Depicting occult practices, fey heroes, and demons crawling out of the woodwork, Persona is Atlus' largest, most successful, and most acclaimed franchise. Beginning as a spinoff of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, the series developed a sizable following in the West after Persona 3, and expanded into non-JRPG genres after Persona 4.
Persona 5-What would you want?
Well, you covered a lot of the things that I would be looking for in Persona 5. These are some really good ideas for the next title.
Yeah, you covered a lot. One thing i'd like to see is more of a crossover. In the Endurance Run, I saw they go to Gekkoukan High which is nice fanservice but if they'd have expanded on that, it would have been amazing.
" Didn't we have a similar thread?Anyway, I'll give the same, yet crucial feature I'd like to see: skippable cutscenes. "Why? The cutscenes are the best part of the game.
" Why? The cutscenes are the best part of the game. "
Not when:
1. You died during a boss and have to hear 20-minute exposition again.
2. During replays when you already know the plot.
I often end up speeding through the dialogue in these games anyway, since you can end up reading the text much faster than the voice actors can spout it out.
" @HandsomeDead said:Oh, yeah. In that case, I am completely with you. That's happened to me enough times on Persona 3 to see the benefits." Why? The cutscenes are the best part of the game. Since P3's main color was blue and P4's was yellow, I'd have P5 be red.
I actually think that it should be green since a) a lot of other SMT games have red like Nocturne and Devil Survivor and b) by having it be green then it is like combining the other two games (blue and yellow) and making one super awesome hybrid game (green).
I also fully support @oathblivion with the Norse mythology, I'm glad it's become more popular now like in Too Human, Tomb Raider: Underworld, and, of course, the new Valkyrie Profile games.

They'd probably have you entering a completley different way.
- A "roll again" feature for the fusing, or just letting you pick out what skills you want it to inherit
- Make it for current gen consoles. Hopefully that includes 360 or Wii because I don't have a PS3
- Gender select
- Let your "bro" get somebody to date. Yosuke should have gotten whomever you didn't pick
- No more awkward characters like Naoto that kill the mood
- Make it so the Good/True endings don't essentially require a walkthrough.
Edit: Let you customize your character's clothing. Or just offer some cool unlockable costumes or something. Everybody should get Teddy costumes if you choose a dialogue option that says "Bears." when asked "What is your favorite animal?"
"All of this plus, more mini-game scenes similar to the one in P3 where you have to avoid being caught by the girls at the hot spring. Also, I think it was said in the previous P5 topic, but I'd like to see one based in North America or Western Europe. Our schooling systems (and holidays) are different than those found in Japan, so I think it would be neat to see US public school kids gathering together to fight shadows, date, and try and get through the school year. If Atlus does decide to set it in Japan again, maybe add a foreign exchange student to the crew (not just another S. Link) and a trip outside of Japan during vacation. Also, since sexual roles seem to be so strict in the games, playing as a girl trying to ward off the advancements of all the guys while building S. Links might be an interesting change. Finally, I'd also like to see something that does a better job of tying all the Persona plot lines together. Something which expands the series mythos and makes it grander. Maybe cast mates from previous games could become social links that you have to seek out, or maybe they offer side quests that add to the story.Edit: Let you customize your character's clothing. The roll again/ pick a skill to inherit then it would be better to use the feature they are talking about for p3p. the skill card thing.
other than that:
1. put it on the current run of consoles, preferably for the 360, since I have one :p
2. I agree with Fallen 189 on the setting of senior year of high school going on to college, however I think the way to enter dungeons would be through the internet and that people would get stuck (like zombie stuck) in front of their computers instead of going missing. That way you can have a bunch of different dungeons the protagonist and crew can jump into with all the literature and other settings
3. the Skill card system for p3p and also the re-roll fusion system
4. Your after school activities have a greater impact on your dungeon crawling i.e if your in the fencing club your sword skills are greater.
5. Instead of changing clothes how the team/squad/league just take on the appearance of theme of that world i.e detective fiction theme have the party dress like detectives.
there's a few for ya....
The main thing I just want is this: Get voice over for everything, and deliver it in a more movie-like manner instead of just anime still pictures (maybe something akin to Mass Effect's style of dialogue). The writing is Persona's best feature, they should do everything they can to showcase it.
That's a great idea. Release the next major title in a popular series on a dead system. You can limit the sales AND the overall quality of the game in one fell swoop." i want it on ps2 "
My own choice would be customizable MC, like a character creator to make your play-through more personalized. This includes optional gender and matching SL's.
