What do people think of the new No Man's Sky updates in teh last few weeks? The Path Finder update introduces planetary vehicles, base sharing, PS4 Pro support, ship/weapon specialisation, permadeath mode, and much more. It shows the path for the future. Digital Foundry looked at the new patch. They concluded that up to 5fps have been added to the 4K mode on PS4 Pro, making the frame-rate much more consistent at 30fps. For HDTV owners, the 1080p mode produces solid 60fps.

    So what are people's thoughts?

I feel like they're at least trying to make good on the promise of the game, but that it's too little, too late for the people who wanted it to be the last game they ever play. As someone who doesn't have a PS4 or much interest in playing it on PC, I'm glad they're supporting/improving it, and I'm hoping it gets an eventual Xbox One release that may well be completely enjoyable on its own merit. I think the "creative" and "survival" modes were much-needed. I'll continue watching this with some interest.

I suffered through the original version enough to upgrade to a ship I thought would be worthy enough, and was making the inventory limit work how it was. I feel burned out, having put a lot of time into the old version, that getting rid of that file and starting up a new game to try out the new stuff just kind of bums me out. At the same time, I DO want to give it another honest chance, just maybe not in that completely free, do whatever mode. That mode, while cool to build and experiment, feels like turning on cheats and makes the progression seem pointless.

Basically, I'm very conflicted about No Man's Sky still.

This is a really good game to zone out on while you do something else. For me, I usually am catching up on tv shows or giant bomb content. If this patch makes it look better and add more stuff that is awesome! But can't say I'm looking forward to turning off the lights, putting my headphones on and expecting this game to take me away. Still, good on em for continuing to add new and different things to their game, cause based on initial responses, I'm not sure if anyone deserved it.

This edit will also create new pages on Giant Bomb for:
