    New Nintendo 3DS

    Platform »

Nintendo's "New 3DS" adds some additional control functionality and horsepower, allowing for some games that can only run on the new hardware, not on Nintendo's original 3DS.

Does this support wifi security/logins properly?

At university I have to use EAP (I think, we login with emails) to login to my wifi. If I remember right this isn't possible on my current 3DS, is there any info that the new 3DS supports any of these things better? If not I might have to plug in my own wireless router and piggy back it off the wired connection, I've done that before but I could do without the hassle. I could also tether it to LTE but again, kind of a hassle.

In reality it's just a Nintendo platform so I probably won't use online that much, but being locked out from network features while I'm there is annoying. It kind of will nullify being able to play Smash or Monster Hunter 4 without using an external router or tethering.

Well, it doesn't. I found a workaround though (or rather, Google did).

    http://virtualrouter.codeplex.com/

If you use that, you can use your desktop/laptop to let your 3DS piggyback, so you could create a simple virtual wifi network and the 3DS (or other devices if you so please) can connect to it.

Your machine needs wireless capabilities so it can broadcast the virtual wifi of course. Good enough for me!
