    Petition

    TO: Activision

As the "biggest entertainment launch of all time" approaches, you're increasingly making your fanbase more angry. Your recent moves on the business side are head scratching and completely apauling. Tony Hawk peripherals to start, PC and UK price hikes and ridiculously overpriced collectors editions for MW2. Gamers were left scratching their heads wondering why? Than your CEO decided to further anger your customers with this quote "And Tony, you know if it was left to me, I would raise the prices even further." I believe we are in what we call a "recession." What the consumer needs is not more expensive items, but less expensive, which we're obviously not screaming for you to do. As people we speak with our wallets as we know you wont hear our words. Everyone who signs this petition disagrees with your approach and your smug attitude. The undersigned agree not to purchase your game at full retail value. We instead will either choose to A.) not purchase MW2. B.)Purchase only in used form allowing no revenue for you. C.)Import from a cheaper country. This may not seem like much of a threat, but the internet is a large place and your wallets may seem a little lighter come Christmas time. Thank you.

    Sincerely,

    The Undersigned

Online petitions are a waste of time, and are the least respected form of activism.

It is unfortunate that gaming is more expensive in countries other than the U.S.  As for expensive special editions, if you don't want or can't afford the expensive version, then don't buy it.

I seriously doubt it will do anything, so I'm not going to bother signing.

Online petitions always work. It's going to sell 10mil regardless of how cheap you are.

I don't know if it's that CEOs are getting greedier, it's just that they seem to take some preverse joy in telling there customers just how greedy they are.
Also I wasn't planning on buying Modern Warfare 2 anyway, so this doesn't matter that much to me.

@pornstorestiffi: WaW wasn't them though, that was Treyarch, however I do agree, it is very much more of the same, even first time around I never thought the single player that good, and got bored of the multiplayer fairly quickly, I'd jump into a game for about 5mins and get bored then quit, I just kept trying, to see if I could justify the purchase. Having said that, I want to get it to see if it has evolved the multiplayer seems more arcadey so maybe it'll be fun, that's what was dull with the first, after a while it just seemed to serious.

I do agree with you by the way I was just curios to know why.

Thank you for your responses, and help us spread the word! Post it into your blogs, tweet them, etc. I am seriously, MW 2 is not a special game or anything to be priced over 60$!, infact its really just a minor improved over MW 1, same scripted game play, engine, etc.

Enough already with these silly petitions.

Just deal with the sad fact that Activision are gonna make a hell of alot of money from this, and inflate their ego even more.

We know Activision are pricks, we know the price of MW2 is ridiculous, but an online petition ain't gonna change shit.

Right, but IW always delivers an incredible game that has plenty of varied gameplay from their last efforts.

My wallet is also going to be affected by this stupid pricing strategy and while it sucks balls that I'm having to pay extra for Modern Warfare 2, but Modern Warfare 2 is probably the only game I'd be willing to pay more for.  The amount of playtime I got from the last Modern Warfare was pretty incredible considering what I paid for it, I'm sure the sequel will keep me just as happy.

There's no way I'm going to not buy MW2 and there's also no way that Activision will pay any attention to a small percentage of a single country not buying their game.  Hell threating them with buying it second hand is just as laughable, CoD4 still sells second hand for £30 in some shops and they expect a certain number of people to buy second-hand anyway.

Petitions achieve nothing for the most part and this one just looks like another example of internet nerd rage.  Sorry man, no signy

Let me sign this petition since it will obviously work and Bobby Kotick will repent from his greedy franchise-whoring ways and Modern Warfare 2 will be dropped in price and we shall all live together in a happy rainbow colony and eat apples together.

Or I could just buy the game.

I wish everyone would just shut the fuck up about it. If you're so against it, don't buy it, or wait till it comes down in price.

Edit: One more thing, if you weren't so blind by anger, you'd see a lot of retailers - in the UK anyway - have the game at £45. Game.co.uk have it for that price, and a long with the code 'LEALTA09', that's another £5 off. I also had a bunch of money on my reward card that took an extra £7.50 off. That got me to £32.50. Now that wasn't hard, was it?
