Matrix Games is a PC game publisher based out of Staten Island, New York. They are a major publisher of niche strategy and war games. They were founded in 1999 and were soon publishing revamps of the classic strategy games Pacific War and Steel Panthers, both Gary Grigsby designs. They have since published a huge catalog of war games, as well as some sims and real time strategy games.
They are known for working closely with small developers, even assisting with art and sound assets to help a good design get published. Their stable of developers gives them a wide variety of game designs in their catalog, but with an overarching theme of hardcore strategy.
As a niche publisher they got involved in digital distribution early and all of their titles are available for download, though they also sell boxed copies.
