Pour Louis thought it was just a side-effect of all the pills he's been taking.
Pour Louis thought it was just a side-effect of all the pills he's been taking.
Yesterday we saw reports of people modifying files on their Xbox 360 hard drives to get at some wild abilities in Left 4 Dead. But Valve responded today with a server-side solution that will, at least, lock down dedicated servers and keep them safe from nefarious harm.

User-hosted games, system link matches, and versus mode, however, are still on and popping. If you're still feeling the sweet, sweet grief of infinite molotov cocktails or... big giant versions of Bill or something, you'll have to wait for a patch, which will be released in "the coming days." And here you thought you didn't have anything else to look forward to in 2008!

I like when I feel like news effects me even when I don't own the game the news is about. This is one of those times. Nice to see people doing work.

Great to see that Valve is being as fast about this as they usually are with PC patches.

I didn't even have time to see it in action first hand. Maybe, it's for the best, since people will surely be banned soon enough.

OK, so if Valve can patch up Left 4 Dead on the 360 this fast, WTF's up with Team Fortress 2 not getting patched? If it's really this easy, what's up?

Wait, Valve is actually supporting this game? I thought they were just going to release it and then leave it for dead (pun) like what they did with the orange box.

Yay Valve,i think they should stick with developing mainly for PC like they are now, even if they don't patch the console versions, they still make big bucks off it.And yes they are fast with the patch this time around, but that doesn't mean that they will release new content for the 360 version, because they don't want to charge users for it,and Microsoft wants to charge money for it,that's why they didn't release anything for the 360 version of TF2,and that's what will probably happen to the 360 version of Left 4 Dead aswell.

Forget the speed, im amazed that valve are even bothering with a console game, maybe we'll see hacking reduced in TF2 on consoles soon -.- (as if)
Although i would like to see a private mode where you can turn those options on or off, for priv games or something

They should have some sort of server set aside for this stuff, maybe unlock to where those without the equipment can "hack" the game.  I mean obviously people like doing this stuff instead of forcing them to ruin the game by breaking it and doing this crap in competitive servers they should make a playground for these fellas.
