    It's like I'm really a detective in the 40's

With all the detective shows on TV I have seen I thought I would be a good detective, boy was I wrong . LA Noire showed me that I am the worst at it. You play as Cole Phelps a war vet that starts out a street cop and works his way up. The story in-game is great but needed more back story on Cole family life, there a twist in the game that involves Cole's family. When this happen I didn't know that Cole was married and had kids. With a great story I just wish they ended it better, I wont say any spoilers. The ending doesn't answer some question and that is all I will say. The city of LA is huge, it is a little to big. When it takes 10-15 mins to get to the middle of town that is just too big. Luckily your partner can drive any and acts as a fast trivial. The side missions are good most are the same and not that long to do. All of them I did took less than 5 mins (not counting driving to the side mission) to complete. Besides the side missions there is gold film to collect, land marks to find and cars to drive which I found hard because all the cars look-alike to me.

This game looks beautiful and has very detailed look of the 1940's. Billboard advertisement to small items in a house look like they were just ripped from 40's and placed in the game. There is one thing I wish I saw but never found the Hollywood sign, see if the land part is still there. Where L.A. Noire shines is the facial movement. The game used new "motion scan" technology that has been used in Mass Effect. With this method emotions of a person show, When you're interviewing someone you can the emotions clearly from sad to angry. The sound is also right, police scanner goes in and out once in a while, voice acting for the most part is outstanding (one or two talked to softly and were hard to hear), and radio music that I heard was great. I wish that there was a radio to turn on and off, I don't know why I heard the radio only at certain times.

In all Rock star has made a new great franchise that I hope grows. If your thinking this is like Grand theft auto where you can run and gun, your wrong and this is not the game for you. If your tired of running from the law or a want to be detective this game is for you.

As I continue to work my way through reviewing the substantial pile of games I’ve played this year, this week I find myself encountering another Rockstar Games offering: L.A. Noire. In this interactive crime drama, you accompany detective Cole Phelps he slogs through a morass of dirty cops, corrupt politicians, and mutilated corpses in an attempt to bring order and justice to 1940’s Los Angeles.Design 3 / 5At first glance, L.A. Noire looks like a typical Rockstar Grand-Theft-Auto-style game, in ...

LA Noire is more concerned with showing you everything it has to offer than demanding any critical thinking from its players. If you become engrossed in the story and just want to see unfold, this probably won't be an issue, but those looking to solve complex logical puzzles are going to be disappointed.LA Noire does do a lot of things well. The technology on display is wonderful, accurately capturing the details of facial movement to a amazing degree of believability, and the atmospheric qu...
