Overview
Ki-Adi-Mundi is a Jedi Knight and Jedi Council member during the
Clone Wars. He was invited into the council after the death of Master Micah Giiett during the Yinchorri conflict, at the urging of
Mace Windu. Windu was not fond of the alternative,
Qui-Gon Jinn. Ki-Adi hails from the planet Cerea. He is one of the most well-known minor Jedi. He is known for his large, cone-shaped head that contains a second heart.
Ki-Adi-Mundi fought alongside other Jedi in the Battle of
Geonosis, kicking off the Clone Wars. Ki-Adi was once the apprentice of the enigmatic Jedi Master known only as the Dark Woman. He was later trained by Master
Yoda. At one point, he takes over as
Anakin Skywalker's surrogate master when
Obi-Wan Kenobi is thought to be dead after the Battle of Jabiim. In an episode of the Star Wars: Clone Wars cartoon series, he leads a Jedi strike to to Hypori to destroy a droid factory. Their ship is shot down and super battle droids lead by General Grievous kill all remaining clone troopers. Grievous then attacks the Jedi. Most are killed, but Ki-Adi, Aayla Secura, and
Shaak Ti survive when a team of elite ARC troopers arrives and rescues them.
In the comic book "Outlander", Ki-Adi is sent to investigate whether a Jedi, Sharad Hett, is alive. He is suspected to be leading a group of
Tusken Raiders. This takes place shortly after Qui-Gon Jinn is killed by
Darth Maul. The Jedi believe he could be very helpful in the fight against the Sith, or a powerful tool for the Dark Side. When Ki-Adi asks why he is chosen, Master Yoda explains that only he can defeat Sharad Hett. In Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the
Sith, Ki-Adi is sent to Mygeeto to fight the Separatist forces. When Palpatine executes Order 66, his clones turn on him as he runs into battle. Overwhelmed by all of the troops, he is quickly killed.
