Hello, there sci-fi vertical shoot 'em up fans!

Previously, G-Darius HD was launched on the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch, then now, coming to PC, so it's going to be great for the newcomers and the fans of the game that wanted to relive their fun memories of playing the original version on the arcades, PS1, PC and PS2 (As part of Taito Legends).

    WHAT, NO WAY!
I've been waiting for this since they started adding old games to the Xbox 360, i didn't know a HD version existed on other platforms and DARIUSBURST on Steam isn't really what i'm after.
I play the PS1 version emulated regularly on beginner mode, i'm not a hardcore shmupper, and i'm a little confused about what's on offer in this package, seems like Ver.2 with beginner mode is for me? Because the included console port doesn't seem to have a HD update... which is odd, and they make the widescreen mode sound like a limited feature for some reason, also i'm assuming you can turn off the slowdown? It's a cool feature and very true to the original, but i would like a version that's smooth.

Unfortunately it's kind of a little too barebones for me, tried it and refunded it.
Lowering the difficulty of the arcade ports is still harder than the beginner mode i enjoy in the PS1 version, they include this version but it doesn't receive any updates at all it's a straight emulation.
The widescreen mode only lets you face a few bosses and the HD upgrade is extremely minor, i think all they did was have it run at your native resolution in a borderless windowed mode that cannot be minimized, they even include a warning to say trying to do so might cause audio issues which a Steam review confirms, bump the colour saturation and very very slightly update the Silver Hawk, they didn't fix the original version's texture warping.

I took a comparison screenshot of the PS1 version running in DuckStation with bumped res, anti aliasing and a widescreen hack which gives the game actual 16:9 with minor pop in.

You can probably bump the colour saturaton in DuckStation if you wanted to copy the look but it's not something i've tried, everything else looks identical minus the lack of widescreen, and DuckStation's texture warping fix and AA really makes it feel like an upgrade.

There are some options that make it a great choice for fans of the arcade versions, subwoofer settings, an audio setting that emulates being in a Japanese arcade, having the choice of Ver.1 and 2, you can save and load in the pause menu, there's an option for reducing slowdown if you prefer it to run smoother, but if you want a widescreen HD version i'd recommend emulation.

@cikame: Oh I see what you mean and I'm personally waiting for the HD version on PC's price to drop further before I may consider purchasing it.
