    Overview

    The FSB provides a variety of services from counter-intelligence, surveillance operations, counter-terrorism and even border integrity.

    History

    The FSB was formed in 1995, when the FSK or Federal Counterintelligence Service had been renamed as the Federal Security Service. Thought of by many as a successor to the communist party's KGB, the FSB is a key agency in Russia. It functions as the FBI, DEA, NSA, Coast Guard and several other forms of law enforcement.
