Remaster controller issue on Epic?

Has anybody purchased this on the Epic store and been able to play with an Xbox One controller? I got it last night and I'm getting nothing from the controller. I did a little searching and it looks like there are other people with this issue but I haven't found any fixes.

I don't have any personal experience with it, but I did read somewhere yesterday for either this or another game that people were having success by adding it to steam as a non steam game and then running it through there, since steam has generalized built in controller support.

Using an Xbox One controller over bluetooth with no issues. Detected and working fine. I tuned up the sensitivity a bit but that was it. I have the 2nd revision controller if that helps. I'm running direct from the shortcut Epic put on the desktop, didnt add to steam or anything like that.
